Enrichment

At Heritage, classes for pre-school aged children are referred to as Enrichment classes.  Enrichment 1 (pre-school) is for children who become four years old prior to September 1.  Enrichment 2 (kindergarten) is for children who become five years old prior to September 1.

Enrichment Curriculum:

Aristotle asserted: “We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”  Nineteenth century British educator, Charlotte Mason, stated: “…habit will govern ninety-nine one-hundredths of the child’s thoughts and acts.”

Enrichment 1 and 2 include the following subject areas in their daily/weekly schedules:

  • Picture Study
  • Bible
  • Phonics
  • Math
  • Nature Study
  • Literature
  • Music
  • Handwriting
  • Art

The primary focus of Heritage’s Enrichment program is the development and enhancement of good habits.  These habits include, but are not limited to, attention, obedience, truthfulness, respect, faithfulness, thoroughness, self-control, and gentleness.

Enrichment Class Schedules:

Enrichment 1 meets on Wednesday and Fridays 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Enrichment 2 meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Enrichment Classes One and Two:

The mission of Heritage is to provide “…academically able students with a challenging educational experience designed to help them know, love, and practice that which is true, good, and excellent….”   The mission forms the criteria for admission to the Lower School.  These mission standards include, but are not limited to, success in each Enrichment class as determined by teachers and administrators and testing by the Heritage Admissions Committee.

Children are admitted to Heritage’s Enrichment Program based on admission testing, the admission’s team observations, parent interviews, and an agreement between the parents’ goals and those of the school.  Admission to the Enrichment Program does NOT guarantee admission to the Lower School.
