From Formation to Fruit: High School at Heritage

At Heritage, high school is more than a path to graduation, but it is a place where students would be deeply formed—mind, heart, and soul—for lives of purpose, impact, and faithfulness.

Throughout high school, we integrate subjects and teach through the lens of a biblical worldview with the end goal of developing graduates who serve the kingdom of God and engage culture faithfully.

During the Rhetoric stage of the Trivium, high school students are equipped to listen carefully, reason wisely, think precisely, and articulate persuasively. Immersed in great works of literature, theology, history, and the arts, students cultivate a love for truth, goodness, and beauty. Every subject is taught through the lens of Scripture, shaping students into thoughtful leaders who are prepared to serve the kingdom of God.

Grades 9 through 12 are challenged to discover their God-given gifts and use them to serve His Kingdom and engage the world with courage and compassion.

Heritage graduates young men and women who are ready to thrive in college, career, and calling. With a foundation of faith, character, and academic excellence, our students are equipped to lead lives of joy, service, and influence in every sphere of society.

Pillars of Our Upper School Experience

City as a Classroom

Located in the heart of Atlanta, Heritage offers a high school experience that reaches far beyond the walls of a traditional classroom. Each Friday afternoon, students step off campus and into the vibrant city as they explore Atlanta’s rich cultural, artistic, and academic institutions. Through curated experiences and intentional connections, students begin to see how classroom learning applies to the world around them and how their faith actively shapes their place within it.

Sidecar Courses

Several times throughout the year, students spend a full day immersed in a single subject from multiple perspectives. These Sidecar Courses allow for deep engagement, creativity, and exploration beyond the normal schedule. Whether learning about economics through hands-on simulations or studying the connection between theology and art, these days highlight the richness of classical Christian education where wonder and wisdom grow through interdisciplinary learning.

Class Trips

From overnight retreats to out-of-state adventures, Heritage class trips are designed to build community and expand perspective. Each trip is intentionally connected to what students are learning whether walking historic battlefields in Virginia, visiting museums in Washington D.C., or serving with ministry partners. These shared experiences deepen friendships, enrich learning, and remind students that meaningful formation happens both in and outside the classroom.

J-Term

Each January, students spend a week focused on one topic through academic study and hands-on experience. J-Term reflects classical Christian education by blending faith, curiosity, and deep learning. Whether exploring business, storytelling, or science, students are encouraged to see how all truth connects and how their studies reflect the character and creativity of God.

Mentors

Throughout high school, each student is paired with three mentors who speak into their lives. These include a spiritual mentor, a professional mentor, and a mentor who is either an alum or young professional. The goal is to surround students with Christ-centered examples who offer wisdom, encouragement, and a vision for what it means to follow Jesus faithfully in every area of life.

Forming Leaders

Leadership at Heritage is formed through practice, responsibility, and service. Within the House system, students grow by serving as Representatives, Shepherds, Stewards, or Prefects where they help guide peers, plan events, and shape school culture. Students also lead service projects, mentor younger students, and build the habits of leadership that reflect humility, wisdom, and truth.
