Heritage Families,

In your mailbox today you should receive our Heritage Preparatory School 2018-2023 Impact Report. The report is an opportunity to shine a light on all that God has done in and through the life of our school as we look back on the past 5 years. It is incredibly inspiring and humbling to consider our collective impact – the strong influence on someone else – made through the gift of generosity and sacrifice through the tool of resources. We celebrate the magnitude of these numbers because they are not just numbers, they are individual lives. As you flip through each page, you will notice the faces of your children and every Heritage student from the 2023-2024 school year. The impact and generosity of this community has paved the way for hundreds of students and their families to embrace an unparalleled educational experience where students are loved, seen, cared for, and embark on a journey to become all that God has prepared them to be.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)

This passage comes on the heels of Jesus’ call to His disciples to be “salt” and emphasizes the impact Christians ought to have in a secular society. He then further instructs them to also be a “light” in a world of sin and darkness. As Jesus’ disciples today, we are not to hide the light of Jesus Christ from our neighbors but rather illuminate and show them the way. Over the past 25 years, Heritage Preparatory School has been a beacon of hope and light in the heart of our city. The Impact Report reflects a glimpse of the strong effect and distinction of our mission as our students and families create ripples throughout our city and our culture in need of a Savior. It is a testimony to the faithfulness and commitment of the Heritage community to obey Christ’s calling to be the light of the world.

As we head into spring break to enjoy a time of rest, may you be reminded of the substantial impact of your generosity as students embrace that which is true, good, and beautiful at Heritage.

In Christ,

Matthew H. Skinner
